2021 Chevrolet Suburban: A Trim Comparison

The newly redesigned 2021 Chevrolet Suburban is a great full-sized SUV. It may tow like a truck, but it definitely gives you the control of a sports utility vehicle. But once you’ve settled on the Suburban, you still have to choose a trim. This comparison guide will help you to narrow down your choices.
Choosing a Suburban Trim
The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban offers a spacious interior and powerful performance no matter which option you choose, but each trim offers more features than the last with a price to match. Consider your budget and your families needs when deciding on a trim.
Overall
Some things remain the same no matter which Suburban you ultimately choose. The fuel economy for the Suburban is 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, regardless of your trim. Another constant is the towing capacity of up to 6,300 pounds when properly equipped. Finally, all Suburbans are rear-wheel-drive unless you upgrade to all-wheel-drive. (This can affect your mileage, lowering it to 14 mpg city/21 mpg highway.)
LS
The LS is the cheapest trim you can choose when picking out a 2021 Chevrolet Suburban. It has a starting MSRP of $51,700. The most interesting thing about the LS is that it has room for eight to nine passengers, which is more seating than the other two trims. This could be perfect for a large family.
The interior comes with a standard 10.2-inch color touchscreen infotainment system, including Bluetooth and eight USB ports. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also standard, as well as satellite radio and HD radio. There are also two 120-volt household-style power outlets and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The cargo space allows for 41.5 cubic feet with the seats up and a maximum storage area of 144.7 cubic feet with the seats down.
The Suburban LS also has notable standard safety features to keep you and your family safe including rear-vision camera, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking and a Teen Driver monitoring system. There is also a remote vehicle starter system and tri-zone climate control.
LT
The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban LT increases the starting MSRP to $59,500 and comes with everything the LS has and more. As mentioned before, the LT has less passenger space than the LS and can only hold seven to eight total passengers—one less than the LS. That’s because the LS trim has the option of a bench front seat. The LT trim forgoes that option.
The upgraded LT interior comes standard with leather-appointed seats. The front seats are also heated. Drivers will also appreciate the available panoramic sunroof and navigation system. Audio enthusiasts will love the Bose premium nine-speaker sound system.
Along with an upgraded dual touchscreen entertainment system, power-folding second- and third-row seats are offered as well. Another addition includes a surround-view parking camera system. Safety also improves a little with the addition of the Driver Alert Package.
z71 and RST
The Suburban offers two new trims this year. The Suburban Z71 starts at just $61,900 and comes standard with four-wheel drive. The Z71 features hill descent control, a front skid plate, front tow hooks and 20-inch wheels along with all-terrain tires. The Suburban RST starts at $59.800 for rear-wheel drive or you can opt for four-wheel drive for $3K more. This sportier trim offers black interior accents and black upholstery with red stitching.
Premier
As the name suggests, the Premier trim is the most luxurious option offered by Chevrolet for the Suburban—although it comes with a high price tag. The starting MSRP of the Premier trim is $65,300, which is a large jump from the LT option. With this price, you get everything the LT has, but with more luxurious additions.
Driver comfort is improved thanks to the magnetic ride control on top of the stylish and larger 20-inch aluminum wheels. The second-row seats, which only include the bucket seat option on this trim, are now power-release, and the third-row seats are now standard power-folding. A 10-speaker audio system and navigation system comes standard, while the adaptive cruise control system is optional.
High Country
The final available trim is the High Country. This trim starts at $72,300 for rear-wheel drive or $75,300 for four-wheel drive. It comes with a 420-horsepower V8 engine and 22-inch wheels. As the highest-end trim, most of the features in the lower-tier trims are included here.
