2023 Chevy Silverado vs. 2023 Toyota Tacoma

The Chevy Silverado and the Toyota Tacoma are two of the top-selling trucks in America, and that’s exactly what makes it hard to choose between them. Price is a big consideration, but there are other things you should think about while looking for the perfect truck. This side-by-side comparison of the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab WT versus the 2023 Toyota Tacoma SR could be just what you need.

Price

Whenever anyone is getting a truck, the price is a huge consideration. A vehicle that is more expensive should have more features, and in this case, the Silverado is the pricier of the two. The basic Silverado 1500 Regular Cab WT has a starting MSRP of $36,300. The basic Toyota Tacoma SR has a much lower starting MSRP of $27,250. This is a considerable difference, but it shouldn’t be the only thing that sells you on your truck.

Towing and Payload

Anyone who gets a truck should be concerned about the amount it can haul. In this case, the Silverado is the winner. Chevy can handle more weight compared to Toyota overall. The Silverado has a maximum tow of 13,300 lbs. and a maximum payload of 2,280 lbs.

The Toyota Tacoma SR is a much smaller truck, so it can’t pull as much as the Silverado 1500. However, for its size, it’s pretty remarkable. The Tacoma SR has a maximum towing capacity of 6,400 lbs. and a maximum payload of 1,440 lbs.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy is another huge influencing factor for purchasing a new truck. In this case, the Silverado 1500 Regular Cab and the Toyota Tacoma SR have very similar gas mileage. The Silverado has slightly less with 19 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the freeway. The Toyota Tacoma gets 20 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. Three miles per gallon may not seem like a lot, but if you spend most of your time in the city, it could be a consideration.

Features

People who use their truck for work also want to use it for play, meaning the more features, the better. The Silverado comes with less technological features when compared to the Tacoma, which could be a huge factor for some. The Chevy offers Bluetooth connectivity, a 7-inch diagonal screen, USB ports,  two speakers in the cab, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Tacoma also offers a 7-inch touch-screen display, Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Notable features that the Silverado doesn’t have as standard that the Tacoma does are voice recognition, satellite radio and a six-speaker audio system. Check out these features and discover more.
