There are three Jeep models with the Cherokee name. The name has been around since 1974 across various models. Jeep has recently come under fire for continuing to use it, but so far, they’re sticking with it.

2022 Jeep Cherokee Trims

We’ll be looking at the smaller compact crossover: the 2022 Jeep Cherokee. It’s a full 7 inches shorter than its big brother (the Grand Cherokee) but no less capable. There are a full 9 different trim options for this compact Jeep crossover, so there’s something for every buyer! So let’s get straight to breaking down each one so you know what features are included at which price point.

First up is the base trim, the 2022 Jeep Cherokee X. It has a starting MSRP of $33,995. The base engine for the Jeep Cherokee is a .3.2L V6 engine, capable of 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle sits on 17-inch aluminum wheels and it comes with a 9-speed automatic transmission. This model comes with all-terrain tires, off-road suspension, and higher ride height.

Some of the top features include a 8.4-inch infotainment display with and six audio speakers. A rear backup camera is also standard, as is forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Lane departure warning and lane keeping assist are standard as well.

The Cherokee X offers an optional package, the Sun and Sound Group for $2,295, that adds a premium nine-speaker Alpine stereo and a panoramic sunroof.

Latitude LUX

The 2022 Jeep Cherokee Latitude LUX is more akin to the base-level Cherokee X and even has the same base price. However, it does not have several features found in that model like the all-terrain tires, off-road suspension, and higher ride height. It does have the same safety features such as blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, lane departure warnings and keep assists, and full-speed forward collision warning.

The biggest thing with this trim is that you can opt for the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It generates 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. It offers a slightly superior fuel economy.

Whatever the model loses, however, it also gains with Nappa leather upholstery, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, eight-way power-adjustable passenger seat and dual-zone automatic climate control. A household power outlet and two rear USB ports are included as well.

Get a 4WD system for $1,500.

2022 Jeep Cherokee


The 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is the model with Jeep Active Drive Lock 4WD and is only available with the V6 engine. It has exclusive off-road themed design elements, along with off-road enhancements like a locking rear differential, off-road suspension, all-terrain tires, a rear skid plate and low-speed crawl control. Upholstery is a combination of cloth and Nappa leather. Get it starting at $37,045.

Optional packages offered are the Comfort and Convenience Group ($895) with power liftgate and garage door opener, and the Sun, Sound, and Navigation Group ($2,895) with nine-speaker Alpine audio, HD radio, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and navigation.

A technology Group Package for $1,345 offers adaptive cruise control, automatic parking assist and automatic high beams.


The 2022 Jeep Cherokee Limited starts at $38,745 for 4WD. The Limited still has the 3.2L V6 engine as standard. However, there are a few upgraded safety features that start at this trim level. Adaptive cruise control with stop and go comes standard, as does parallel and perpendicular park assist. The Alpine sound system and dual-pane sunroof are standard too.

But, if you want the navigation and HD radio features, you’ll need the Elite package for $1,695. This also has ventilated front seats, hands-free liftgate access, heated rear seats and a unique set of wheels.
