2022 Nissan Sentra: A Trim Comparison
The 2022 Nissan Sentra is a compact car the competes with the likes of the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla. But thanks to a dated design (inside and out) and underpowered engines, the Nissan Sentra ranks at the bottom of our ranking for compact cars.Even so, there are still some positives surrounding this car. The cabin and seats are spacious and comfortable, and the trunk also has sizeable cargo space for a vehicle in this class. What buyers may have their eye on, however, is the price. The 2022 Nissan Sentra is one of the least expensive vehicles on the market and routinely undercuts its rivals on price. That makes it a popular choice for first-time drivers and first-time car buyers alike.
Nissan Sentra Trim Comparison
For 2022 the new Nissan Sentra offers new standard and optional features. There are three trims to choose from, each with more features than the last. Here’s how each trim level breaks down and what you can expect and which price point.
The 2022 Nissan Sentra S is the base model and the cheapest option. Its starting MSRP is $19,510. Even though it may be cheap, it still has plenty of safety features. Intelligent auto headlights and a rearview monitor come standard. Newly standard is Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Sentra S also has vehicle dynamic control with a traction control system and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The standard engine offering is a 2.0-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine. It will get you from place to place, but it’s not exactly the peppiest engine around. It generates about 149 horsepower. If you’re wanting something a little more fun to drive, try a Mazda3. It does offer a decent fuel economy, however, getting 29 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway. The Sentra S comes with a CVT transmission standard.
On the interior, there is a 7-inch touchscreen display, USB port and Bluetooth streaming audio. As for safety features, the S model offers quite a bit for your money. Some of the features included in the price are a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, pedestrian detection, and driver attention monitoring.
The 2022 Nissan Sentra SV is a step up from the base model. The price is still a bargain, though, since it starts at $20,570. The interior is the nicest aspect of this model. Drivers and passengers will appreciate the dual-zone automatic temperature control with an in-cabin microfilter. Seats are also upgraded to a premium cloth seat trim. The steering wheel is even 370Z-inspired.
The Sentra SV also has a Nissan Intelligent Key with push-button ignition. But more importantly, you’ll get an upgraded 8-inch touch screen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver display, six-speaker audio, two additional USB ports, and satellite radio. Other features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, and metal alloy wheels.
An optional SV Premium package for $2,270 adds a moonroof, heated leather front seats and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
The SR trim is the top-of-the-line model that starts at $22,100. Most of its upgrades are fairly superficial – stylistic enhancements designed to give the vehicle a sportier look. Cloth seats feature orange stitching. There’s a rear spoiler, chrome-tipped exhaust and dark chrome V-motion grille.
You’ll also have the option for an SR Premium package which is mostly the same as the SV package, except you get Prima-Tex synthetic leather upholstery and a few more features: eight-speaker Bose audio, a newly available Wi-Fi hotspot, a surround-view parking camera and a heated steering wheel.
