December 12, 2023
The new Acura MDX is back with an all-new redesign. The 2023 Acura MDX has been revamped with new standard features, a luxurious interior and terrific performance. It offers two drive options along with four packages that introduce new features you may want in your luxury SUV. On top of this, it has a longer and wider body than the previous model.
First, Choose an Engine and Drivetrain
The Acura MDX offers a few different options when it comes to performance. Finding the right engine option for your vehicle really depends on your driving needs, which means it’s always a good idea to research the best choice for you.
Gasoline Engine Options
Like with most smaller vehicles, the 2023 Acura MDX comes with two drive options: front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive. Both options are offered with a standard 3.5-liter direct-injection V6 engine that gets 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The front-wheel-drive option is the least inexpensive at $49,050, though notably higher than the smaller RDX. However, you can have more control by paying $51,250 and getting all-wheel-drive.
On the exterior, the standard trim comes with daytime running headlights, a power moonroof, heated side mirrors, and a power-operated tailgate. The luxurious interior comes standard with synthetic leather-trimmed and heated seating, automatic tri-zone climate control, push-button start, a nine-speaker audio system and Bluetooth connectivity.
Safety features include driver drowsiness monitoring, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blindspot monitoring, automatic emergency braking and rear cross traffic alert among other essential driver assistance features.
Turbocharged Engine Option
Another drivetrain option (and second engine choice) will come with the MDX Type S. This vehicle comes with a 3.0-liter port-injected V6 engine that gets 355 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. Full specifications for this powertrain are not yet available but assume that the fuel economy will be considerably less than the base engine’s 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
Then, Add On a Package Option
Technology Package
The Technology Package adds features to upgrade the convenience of the vehicle. Some of the changes include premium leather sports seats, ambient LED cabin lighting, and parking sensors. The navigation system offers a 3D view with real-time traffic updates and rerouting if the traffic is too bad.
The entertainment system also improves with the addition of ELS Studio Premium Audio. This entertainment system is designed by Grammy Award-winning engineer and producer Elliot Scheiner. It provides a touchscreen for operation, USB audio interface for iPods, Bluetooth connectivity, an auxiliary input jack, and 12 speakers. Finally, the Technology Package adds power-folding side mirrors.
Overall, the Technology Package is an additional $4,700.
Advance Package
The Advance Package can be added on for an additional $7,050. That number is a bit deceptive, however, as choosing this package requires buyers to also include the Technology Package and AWD. That brings the total additional cost of the vehicle up to $63,000.
On the exterior, the Advance Package adds LED fog lights and roof rails for extra storage. For the interior, it upgrades the seating to perforated Milano premium leather with contrast piping and stitching. The seats are also heated and ventilated, so you stay comfortable no matter the season. To add to the comfort, drivers have access to a heated steering wheel, as well.
For safety, the Advance Package adds a heads-up warning display and the Surround-View Camera System, which allows you to see your 2023 Acura MDX from all angles.
A-Spec Package
The third and final package addition is the A-Spec package. Like the Advance Package, it requires buyers to also opt for the Technology Package as well as the gasoline AWD drivetrain. The A-Spec itself is an additional $3,500, but choosing it will set you back up to $59,450.
The perks of this package are mainly cosmetic in nature, allowing your MDX to stand out with 20-in. shark gray split five-spoke wheel, A-Spec branding badges on the vehicle, metal footrests and sports pedals, premium Ultrasuede red or ebony leather seats, and a leather-wrapped, flat-bottom sport steering wheel. There is also a 16-speaker premium audio system and a CabinTalk driver convenience feature that allows drivers to more easily communicate with those in the back seat.
