2023 Subaru Forester: A Trim Comparison

The Subaru Forester returns for 2023 with some updated styling and an all-new trim. Read on to learn more about each trim and what it has to offer!

2022 subaru forester

Forester

Simply called the Forester, the base trim starts at $26,395. This trim includes automatic climate control, a Starlink infotainment system with 6.5-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, two USB ports, HD radio, satellite radio, Bluetooth and four-speaker audio.

You’ll also get some driver assistance features included in this price. Adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, lane keeping assist, lead vehicle start alert and lane departure warning are just some of the features you’ll get.

The base Foresters comes equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 182-horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive and a CVT transmission are standard as well. Fuel economy is rather impressive, seeing you 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. All other Subaru Forester trims feature the same set-up.

Premium

The Premium trim starts at $29,395 and includes everything in the base trim plus a little more. The Premium comes with a panoramic moonroof, heated front seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat, reclining rear seats, a Wi-Fi hotspot and a six-speaker audio system.

An optional package available for $1,165 adds a power liftgate, blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, and rear cross traffic alert driver assistance features.

Sport

The Sport trim starts at $30,965 and adds unique styling elements to the inside and outside. For instance, you’ll get sports cloth upholstery and paddle shifters. The blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and lane change assist features in the optional Premium trim package are standard here, and you’ll also get two additionally USB ports.

An optional package available for the Sport is $1,645 and includes a power liftgate, reverse automatic emergency braking, a nine-speaker Harmon Kardon premium audio system and an 8-inch touch display.

Wilderness

The all-new Wilderness trim starts at $34,020. Designed for camping and outdoor aficionados, it includes all-terrain tires, a forward-facing off-road camera, and water-repellant upholstery. Other features include an 8-inch touch display, dual-zone automatic climate control and reverse automatic emergency braking. Additionally, you’ll be able to tow up to 3,000 pounds versus the 1,500 in the lower trim levels.

Limited

Starting at $33,075, the Limited trim offers a more luxurious experience with added leather upholstery and a power liftgate.

For an extra $1,695, you can also get navigation, reverse automatic emergency braking, a heated steering wheel and the premium nine-speaker audio system.

Touring

At $36,495, you’ll get pretty much everything the 2022 Subaru Forester has to offer, meaning everything in the previous trim levels plus a few others like driver drowsiness monitoring, one-touch folding and heated rear seats.

Again, it should be mentioned that there are no other powertrain options for this vehicle, but you can expect great performance with any of the trims mentioned above.
