So you’re in the market for a new truck and the 2023 GMC Canyon has caught your eye. GMC is a trusted, reliable car manufacturer that produces vehicles that look like the beautiful older siblings to Chevrolet’s trucks. With these trucks, you’re getting high-end luxury vehicles that you’ll enjoy for many years. The refreshed GMC Canyon lineup is the hottest lineup to-date!
GMC Canyon Trims
With a reputation for having GM’s best-built trucks, it’s no wonder GMC is overshadowing Chevrolet these days. The new 2023 line of GMC Canyons comes with four different trim options: the Canyon Elevation, AT4, Denali and AT4X. All options feature the same four-cylinder engine.
Even though the Denali is the top-of-the-line, super fancy, and most popular version of the midsize pickup line, the other models are worth looking at. You don’t want to spend too much money on features you’re never going to use or care about. Keep reading to find out which 2023 GMC Canyon is right for you.
Cab Configurations
The 2023 GMC Canyon has two cab options for drivers to choose from. The least-expensive is the extended cab, which has only two doors and a shortened space behind the driver for two passengers.
The next size up is the crew cab. This is the most popular configuration option on the Canyon. It has four full-size doors and ample seating for five passengers. The back seat is full-sized, similar to an SUV. The extra passenger space eats into the box length.
The largest option is the crew cab with long box. This features the full-size cab along with the full-size bed. Each larger cab size is, obviously, more expensive than the previous option. To make comparisons easier, we will be quoting prices for the two-weel-drive crew cab with short box, unless otherwise noted.
Canyon Elevation
The first level trim is the Elevation starting at $36,600 and its easily one of the best mid-size trucks you can get for your money. The 2023 GMC Canyon Elevation comes equipped with a 310-horsepower 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, rear-wheel drive and 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. 4WD is optional. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 7,700 pounds.
The Elevation offers a surprising amount of features for your money. Included with this model is an off-road performance display, an 11.3-inch infotainment system, 8-inch digital driver information center, and Teen Driver monitoring system. Wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay come standard as well. The HD backup camera features a hitch assist view for easier towing.
With the optional Convenience package, you’ll get even more features that will elevate the luxuriousness of your Canyon. Features such as vanity mirrors, an auto-dimming mirror, an electric rear window defogger, LED fog lights and dual-zone automatic climate control are all welcome additions. On top of that, you can get 120-volt household outlets, a rear sliding window, additional USB ports, and an EZ-Lift and Lower tailgate. Remote start allows you to start warming up or cooling down your truck before you get in.
In addition to those features, you’ll get an array of standard safety features. Some features included are forward collision alert, lane keeping assist and automatic emergency braking. Optional is a Safety Plus Package with rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. Meanwhile, a technology package adds adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera and rear pedestrian detection.
AT4
The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 improves the Canyon’s ruggedness in both appearance and functionality. The vehicle comes standard with 4WD for one, and comes with a two-speed AutoTrac transfer case and an automatic locking rear differential. Skid plates, a tailgate storage system, recovery hooks and advanced hill descent control come standard as well.
Most features in the Elevation are included with the AT4. Options are similar as well, but you can get a few extras, like the AT4 Premium Package with perforated heated and ventilated leather seats, a memory driver’s seat and wireless charging – just to name a few. The AT4 starts at $43,900.
Denali
Next up is is the 2023 GMC Canyon Denali. This beast starts out at a hefty $51,100. It’s easily the most luxurious out of the bunch. The Denali is a super-premium build with standard perforated leather seating, wood trim, 11-inch digital gauge cluster, and a heads up display. Other luxury features include dual-zone automatic climate control, heated steering wheel, and wireless charging pad. The stereo is upgraded to a premium Bose seven-speaker sound system.
The sheer amount of luxury features in this truck is what makes the price so much higher. Most things that are optional in the previous trims like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and the 360-degree camera are all standard in the Denali.
A special Denali Black Edition adds exclusive badging, black running boards, 20-inch black aluminum wheels and other black accents for a sharper, sleeker look.
AT4X
The AT4X is now the most expensive trim, available starting at $55,500. This is the off-road performance model of your dreams, delivering a 3-inch lift, off-road suspension and 4WD. It also includes a unique Baja drive mode in addition to the other modes (Normal, Off-Road, Terrain, and Tow/Haul).
The appearance package for the AT4X adds glossy black 17-inch alloy wheels, underbody protection, and on the inside, an Obsidian Rush interior with red stitching and white accents. In terms of luxury features and technology – it offers the same as the Denali. However, you will have the option for an Edition 1 package that gives you even more.
The Edition 1 package adds an off-road, safari-style bumper, a 30-inch light bar, underbody cameras, and reconfigurable bed rails. Finally, you can add removable off-road running boards, a power sunroof, and red seatbelts. If you love red, this is the truck for you.
