Select

The first model in our trim comparison guide is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 2.5 S Select, starting at $29,300. The base-level trim features a 187-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive gives power to each of the 17-inch alloy wheels equipped with all-season tires.

On the inside, a power-adjustable adjustable from driver’s seat and split-folding rear seats. The seating features synthetic leather upholstery, but only the front seats come heated. The 10.2-inch infotainment system includes smartphone integration features (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay), HD Radio and Bluetooth support. Listen to audio through a standard six-speaker stereo, and set your cabin to the ideal temperature with dual-zone climate control.

Additionally, you’ll find front and rear USB ports and a Wi-Fi hotspot for connecting devices. Proximity keyless entry and a push-button start are included with this base model as well.

As for driver assistance safety features, you’ll get the essentials like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist and forward automatic emergency braking. Adaptive cruise control, automatic highbeams and a rearview camera are among the many other features that come with the 2.5 S Select trim.

Preferred

If you are looking for added luxury, we’d recommend paying the extra thousand for the 2024 Mazda CX-5 2.5 S Preferred trim, which starts at $30,650. This one adds on more durable genuine leather upholstery, a moonroof and a power-adjustable passenger front seat.

Carbon Edition

The Carbon Edition doesn’t offer much more than a few aesthetic upgrades. For its $31,950 starting price, you’ll get some black exterior accents and 19-inch wheels.

Premium

Starting at $33,900, the 2024 Mazda CX-5 2.5 S Premium trim offers everything in the Preferred trim as well as a few extras. Further, the trim provides satellite radio and a digital speedometer. Like the Carbon Edition, wheels are upgraded to 19-inch versions. Other inclusions are adaptive headlights and shift paddles.

Premium Plus

The Premium Plus trim starts at $36,500, adding a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats and ventilated front seats. The audio system is upgraded to the best possible one – a 10-speaker system. Meanwhile, you’ll also get a heads up display and power liftgate.

Carbon Turbo

New for 2024, the Mazda CX-5 2.5 S Carbon Turbo trim includes everything at the Premium Plus trim-level but adds unique carbon styling. However, you will not get the heated rear seats. The main attraction, however, is the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 227 horsepower when using regular unleaded gas.

However, by using premium gasoline you can get up to 256 horsepower.

Turbo Premium

The Turbo Premium boasts the same turbocharged 256-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Although you will get improved acceleration with this trim, you’ll have to sacrifice fuel economy. This version gets 22 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway – versus the base version, which gets 24 and 30, respectively.

Turbo Signature

The final trim is the Turbo Signature, starting at $40,600. This one combines premium luxury and performance in an all-in-one package that is truly impressive.

The Turbo Signature trim decorates the cabin with wood trim and ambient lighting. The exterior features some stylish metallic accents. Other standard features include Nappa leather upholstery and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

On top of that, you’ll get additional driver assistance features – those features include front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera, reverse collision warning, driver attention monitoring and traffic sign recognition. Furthermore, integrated navigation comes standard as well.

Boating a reliability score of 82 from JD Power and a five out of five overall safety score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Mazda CX-5 is easily one of the best compact SUVs on the market today and well worth your money.
