The 2024 Toyota Highlander is an attractive SUV that has pretty good towing capabilities, but not every trim is made the same. After reading this detailed guide, you may realize that purchasing the highest trim isn’t worth it.
Toyota Highlander Trims
The Toyota Highlander is available in several different trims, including both gasoline and hybrid powertrains. If you want the new Highlander, check out these exciting options!
LE
The Toyota Highlander LE trim is the base trim for the Highlander. It comes with the standard with a 265-horsepower, turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The base engine can get up to 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, but it’s not the only choice. If you’re looking for a vehicle that can tow, you may be happy to hear that the Highlander LE can haul up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.
The Highlander LE features an 8-inch, high-resolution touch-screen display, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa and Apple CarPlay support, six-speaker audio, Bluetooth, five USB ports, satellite radio and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Tri-zone climate control, proximity keyless entry, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a power liftgate also come standard.
Safety for the Highlander LE is top-notch and includes a rearview camera, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, blind sport monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert. Other features include lane departure alerts with steering assist, automatic high beams, traffic sign recognition and adaptive cruise control.
The LE trim starts at $39,120. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid option, which gets up to 36 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway, starts at $40,720. It’s easily one of the best hybrid three row SUVs you can buy.
LE Nightshade
The new Toyota Highlander LE Nightshade trim starts at $41,720. This version adds blacked-out styling elements to its alloy wheels, grille, side mirrors, spoilers, and door handles. All features of the base LE trim carry over.
XLE
The 2024 Toyota Highlander XLE is the next trim and improves the interior quite a bit. It has a starting MSRP of $42,270 and has the same engine as the other Highlander trims, meaning it also has the same towing capabilities.
The major exterior change is the power moonroof. The inside gives you synthetic leather upholstery instead of cloth, heated front seats, power-adjustable driver and passenger seats, second-row captains chairs, wireless device charging, and a universal garage door opener. There’s also a 7-inch digital instrument cluster display.
The 2024 Highlander XLE also has a hybrid option with a starting MSRP of $43,870. Again, it has the same engine and features as the gasoline model but with two electric motors.
Hybrid XLE Nightshade
Starting at $44,870, this trim includes everything in the XLE but with blacked out accents. you will not, however, have the option for second-row bench seats.
XSE
The 2024 Toyota Highlander XSE has a starting price of $43,865. It boasts sporty interior and exterior styling, sport-tuned suspension, and front and rear parking sensors. Other features include navigation and ambient interior lighting.
Limited
The 2024 Toyota Highlander Limited starts at $46,375. It upgrades many of the vehicle’s interior features, including genuine leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a household power outlet, and an 11-speaker JBL premium audio system. The liftgate is power-operated and hands-free. This year, the Limited includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
If you want the hybrid version, expect to pay around $47,975. With this model, you’ll also get parallel park assist.
Platinum
The 2024 Toyota Highlander Platinum is the top-level trim that offers everything you could need from a Highlander. Heated second-row seats, a heads-up display, and a surround-view parking camera are welcome additions to this trim. There are also adaptive headlights and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Get this trim for $49,575, or the hybrid version for $51,175.
