2022 Hyundai Tucson: A Trim Comparison

Hyundai Tucson Trim Comparisons
The new Hyundai Tucson is available in four different trim levels. Each one offers significant upgrades and more features than the last. Let’s take a look at the major differences!
SE
The Hyundai Tucson SE is the base trim for the new Tucson. For a starting cost of just $24,950, you’ll get a ton of features for your money. The standard infotainment system includes an 8-inch touch display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, HD radio, two USB ports, and a six-speaker stereo. Keyless remote entry is also standard.
In terms of safety features, you won’t be left out with this trim. The standard features of the base trim include a rearview camera, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, rear-seat alert, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist, among others.
There’s only one engine option: a 187-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It is combined with standard front-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmission. However, all-wheel-drive is available. Getting 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, the vehicle offers a decent fuel economy.
Blue
The Blue trim is only offered with the 2022 Tucson Hybrid model and is the base hybrid trim. This is a hybrid model-only trim. This is the most fuel-efficient Tucson of the entire bunch with an EPA rating of 38 mpg city and 38 mpg highway. That should be good for around a 520 mile-range on a full tank of gas. The starting MSRP is $29,000.
To achieve these higher fuel economy ratings, the Tucson Hybrid Blue lacks some of the luxury features of the higher hybrid trims (SEL Convenience & Limited). That’s because those features add weight to the vehicle, and a heavier Tucson is a less fuel-efficient Tucson.
The standard wheels are 17-inch on this trim, whereas they are 19-inches on the other two hybrid trims. The Blue trim also has stain-resistant cloth seating throughout the cabin. Those are the major standout differences from other trims. It does come standard with things like heated front seats, lane-keep assist, forward collision avoidance, blind-spot avoidance, and rear cross-traffic alerts. There is a smidge more headroom on the Blue trim as it doesn’t have a panoramic sunroof.
SEL
The SEL trim is the second-level trim of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson. It has a starting price of $26,500. The trim level adds on additional USB ports, satellite radio, heated front seats, and proximity keyless entry. A push-button ignition is featured as well.
As for safety features, you’ll get a few additions: blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. This trim starts at $26,500.
A couple of additional packages are available at an added cost. One package is the $2,600 Convenience package with digital key app, an upgraded 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless device charging, a hands-free liftgate, a sunroof, and dual-zone climate control. The $1,700 Premium package adds leather upholstery, ventilated seats, and eight-speaker audio.
For the Tucson Hybrid Plug-In Hybrid model, the base offering is also an SEL trim. However, it’s a little different than the non-hybrid offering in that there (at least currently) is no option to add on Convenience or Premium packages. Instead, buyers should just upgrade trim levels. The Tucson Plug-In Hybrid SEL starts at $34,750.
SEL Convenience
With an MSRP of $31,800, the middle hybrid trim level is the Tucson Hybrid SEL Convenience. This trim is only available on the hybrid model. It comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. This instrument cluster screen, the one that sits directly behind the steering wheel is unique, there is no gauge cluster hood. It opens up the view in front of the driver and makes the cabin seem that much more open. But don’t worry; the screen is plenty bright enough so that it doesn’t wash out or become illegible when the sunlight hits it.
The Hybrid SEL Convenience also comes standard with a hands-free smart liftgate with auto open and adjustable height settings. Hyundai’s Digital Key is also standard starting with this middle hybrid trim. A wireless device charging pad is standard on this trim as well. The steering wheel is also leather-wrapped. The EPA rating drops slightly to 37 city/36 highway from the Tucson Hybrid Blue’s 38 mpg.
N Line
The Tucson N Line is the third-level trim. It is available for $30,600 and offers the Convenience package option from the SEL as a standard set of features. Also, standard are a Bose stereo system and a few differences in styling such as with the front and rear bumpers, the rear spoiler, grille, and front seats. The N branding is Hyundai’s sports-centered line of vehicles, so expect this to be the sportiest Tucson offering.
Limited
The Limited trim for $34,700 is the final trim level for the 2022 Hyundai Tucson. This trim includes all of the optional packages as standard features, while also adding an upgraded infotainment system with a 10.25-inch display and navigation. There is a drawback to the larger display screen, however. The larger 10.25-inch size does not have wireless capabilities for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That is only a feature of the smaller 8-inch screen. A panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and a power-adjustable passenger seat are other great additions.
You’ll also get more safety features too. Front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera, rear collision warning, blind spot cameras, and remote-controlled parking are all superb features that you’ll get with this trim. Most notable of all is the semi-autonomous driving system, a system usually only included in high-end cars like Tesla.
The Limited trim is also available on both the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. The Tucson Hybrid Limited MSRP begins at $37,500 while the Tucson Plug-In Hybrid Limited starts at $42,550. Both of these hybrid offerings have essentially the same standard features as traditional gas Tucson Limited trim.
