For 2023, the Genesis offers newly redesigned and refined engines, new features and an impressive new interior. Luxury drivers can get all in a fairly decent price range. It’s perfect for families and for commuting to the office.

When contemplating your perfect vehicle, Genesis does things a little differently. They start with  what they call “trim models.” In actuality, these are engine and powertrain configurations. Then, the buyer adds “Packages” to give their Genesis a distinct “flavor.” These packages function similarly to trim levels as they are found on most other manufacturers.

Breaking Down the G80 Trims

Let’s break everything down for the solidly performing 2023 Genesis G80 mid-size luxury sedan. We’ve split things up by engine size, and detail the available choices applicable to each one. New for the year is the Electrified G80, the all-electric offering from Genesis.

Genesis G80 2.5T

The base engine for the 2023 Genesis G80 is a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It’s capable of 300-hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. Buyers who opt for rear-wheel-drive will see pricing start at $49,500. Meanwhile, the all-wheel drive version is available for $52,650.  The 2.5T models come in an array of different exterior colors. Most are an array of whites, grays, and blacks, though there is a deep blue color. You can opt for rear-wheel drive or all-wheel-drive.

Standard features with the 2.5T are plentiful. Drivers will get a massive 14.5-inch display for their infotainment system with navigation, Bluetooth, smartphone integration features, and three USB ports. Listen to satellite radio or HD radio on a 12-speaker audio system. You’ll also get dual-zone climate control, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats and a hands-free power lift trunk. The AWD version has two additional features: heated rear seats and heated steering wheel.

Safety features are plentiful. You’ll get all the essentials, including forward automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams, among other features. Front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera are also included.

Packages

The Genesis 2.5T offers two different packages to add on. The $4,700 Advanced package adds tri-zone climate control, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 21-speaker audio system and rear sunshades. Aesthetically, it adds wood trim and a panoramic sunroof. The Sport Prestige package for $10,800 provides luxury features like genuine leather upholstery, wireless device charging, a surround-view parking camera system, a blind spot camera, remote control automated parking, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging and power soft-closing doors, among other things. This is in addition to everything in the Advanced Package.

Genesis G80 3.5T

The 2023 Genesis G80 3.5T Sport starts at $65,250, which comes with an all-wheel-drive powertrain. The main draw of this model is the performance-focused engine. It’s a 3.5L GDI twin-turbo V6 with 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. It does lower the fuel economy by just a single mpg rating from the base option (22 city/32 highway, compared to 16/25).

The 3.5T comes with most features included in the Sport Prestige package, such as leather upholstery, tri-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, second-row sunshades, wireless device charging, panoramic sunroof, and a 21-speaker audio system. In the way of safety, there’s a rear-seat reminder, a surround-view parking camera and a blind spot camera.

Packages

The Prestige package, which starts at $6,000 for all-season tires or $6,500 for summer-only tires, ups the luxury on everything. You’ll get Nappa leather seats, a suede headliner, a heads-up display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. For improved performance, there’s rear-wheel steering and a sports-tuned suspension. A carbon-fiber interior trim and 20-inch wheels are added as well. Reverse automatic emergency braking is added for safety.

Electrified G80

Starting at $79,825, you can get the all-new Electrified G80. This model comes with an 87.2 kWh 523 V lithium polymer battery that can deliver a range of up to 282 miles. Its two electric motors deliver 365 horsepower. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, which is even faster than the 3.5T.

As for features, this model comes fully-loaded, so you won’t have to worry about choosing a package.

2023 Genesis Electrified G80

If you are concerned about the longevity of your ride, worry not because Genesis has you covered. There’s a 60,000-mile limited warranty, a 100,000-mile warranty on the powertrain, and 36,000-mile complimentary maintenance.

Conclusion

When it comes down to features, you can fully equip your vehicle no matter which model you choose. It really comes down to your engine options. If you want a more powerful ride, you’ll want to select a 3.5T model, but if you are more interested in the features, you can save more money by sticking with the 2.5T. However, if you are looking to save on gas and you can shell out a little more dough, you certainly can’t go wrong with the all-new Electrified G80.
